We are looking for nominations of Benicia residents who would like to serve as Benicia's next Poet Laureate.  Nominate yourself or someone else.

The Poet Laureate must be a Benicia resident and will serve for a two year term beginning July 2014. 

Dessert Wars

Wednesday, May 7 at 7 p.m.

Who will win the title of the best dessert baker in Benicia? The Benicia Library Foundation presents the first annual Dessert Wars. Entry forms and fees must be received no later than Monday, April 28.

The Dashiell Hammett Tour of San Francisco

Monday, March 31

7:00 pm

Take a virtual tour with Don Herron over the fog-shrouded hills stalked by Sam Spade and other hard-boiled characters created by San Francisco's most famous mystery writer, Dashiell Hammett.  The Benicia Reads The Maltese Falcon program is co-sponsored by Benicia High School, the Friends of the Library, and the Benica Public Library.

Barbie Party for Kids!

3:30 - 4:45 pm for ages 7-12 years of age.

We will have a Barbie clothes swap and a craft!

Sand Bags Available

If you need to get sandbags due to the storm, there are two sandbag stations available.
1. At the Corp Yard near the recycling area
2. At the East E Street parking lot

Benicia's Fire Department shared the following weather related news: Over the weekend the morning high tides in the area are predicted at just over 5' around the 08:30-09:30 period.  The evening high tides are predicted to be less than 4'.

Trivia Bee Winners

This year's theme was The Maltese Falcon.  This fun way to support the Library had great food, prizes for best costumes, silent auction and, of course, the trivia fun!  This year's winners:
