September is National Library Card Sign- Up Month!

If you don't ave a library card September is the month to get one! Get a free pencil when you sign up for a library card and enter our raffle for a $25 coupon to spend at an upcoming Friends Book Sale! 

Bring in your photo ID and verification of your current address and you can be on your way to checking out a variety of items both from the Library and from our extensive list of online resources.

Children 4 and older can also get a card when a parent (or legal guardian) comes in with them.

After the recent earthquake in Napa, it is a good time to remind our community that if you need a toll-free live professional with information and/or referrals regarding health and human services, 24/7 and in a variety of languages - dial 211 from your landline or cell phone.

Meet Don Peery, Benicia's new Poet Laureate, and other Bay Area poet laureates!  Bring a pot luck dish to share.  Water and watermelon will be provided.

Bring your own chairs, blankets, sunscreen, and hats!

New Poet Laureate

Congratulations to Donald Peery who was affirmed as Benicia's fifth poet laureate with a resolution at the July 15th Benicia City Council meeting.

The appointment comes after the Board of Library Trustee's Poet Laureate Committee's recommendation to the Council. See newspaper annoucement.

April is National Poetry Month

Celebrate National Poetry Month with a poetry reading to celebrate the publication of the First Tuesday Poets anthology: A Word for All Seasons.

Need help to determine how you will vote?  The California League of Women Voters provides pros and cons on the issues with their Easy Voter Guide in a variety of languages.  Find copies in English and Spanish in the library as well.
