It's HOT outside!

Stay Cool.  Stay Hydrated. and Stay Informed:  Great advice from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to use during this heat wave.

Don't forget the Library is a place to cool down if you want some relief from the heat.  Take advantage of our air conditioning any time the Library is open:  Monday - Thursday from 10 am to 9 pm and Friday - Sunday from noon to 6 pm. 

Food for Thought Book Club

Food for Thought Book Club has cancelled its July 1st meeting.

Please don't forget to renew your book so that you don't accrue fines.  This can be done at home on our online catalog by logging in with your library card number, last name and last four digits of you phone number and clicking on your account.

June 20 is the first day of summer which means the next three days are the longest three days of the year.  Celebrate!!

Flag Day

Flag Day and the Retirement of old American flags:  On June 14, Benicia Fire Department crews stand by at the Benicia Veteran’s Memorial Hall to observe and supervise as Veterans of Foreign Wars and Benicia Boy Scouts helped retire old and tattered American flags. Flag Day is celebrated annually on June 14 in commemoration of the adoption of the America flag in 1777. Approximately 200 to 300 flags are accumulated each year and then are disposed of properly by burning.

First Street Cafe will be hosting Benicia Library Foundation Day.  You can help this group by coming to the First St. Cafe and enjoying a meal with family and friends.  First St. Cafe will then donate 20% of pretax sales to the Library Foundation.  Only guests who have the flyer will have their purchases, both within the dining room or To Go orders, credited to the Benicia Library Foundation.

Brand New Library Building on L StreetThis month is marks the 20th Anniversary of the Library Building.  To celebrate, Hedi Desuyo's photographs of the construction of the Library will be on display in the Art Gallery June 17 - June 28.
