Awards Celebration, Love Poetry Contest 2012

Since 2004, Benicia and surrounding community poets have been honoring the love affair of Early California's Concepción Argüello and Russia's Nikolai Rezanov.

Two hundred eighteen original, unpublished love poems have been submitted by 92 poets to be judged by a California Community Poet Laureate not from our local area.   Attend the awards celebration to see who the winners are!  This is a co-sponsored event with the Benicia Historical Museum.

**Take a look at some of the submitted love poems at Benicia Patch.  Comments encouraged.
 

  Poem  Homes

The boxes around town are Poem Homes.   The public is invited to TAKE A FREE POEM from the box.  Enjoy it, recycle it, and share it.  Current locations for Poem Homes include:  Arts Benicia (991 Tyler Street #14), Benicia High School Counseling Center, Benicia Community Park (Community Park Drive, in Southampton near Matthew Turner School, the site for the new Benicia Community Garden (corner of First and D Street, across from Union Hotel) and at the Community Action Council office (480 Military East).  

If you would like to add your poem(s) to the box, email your one page, 40 lines maximum poem to RonnaLeon@mac.com.  For all of the rules, see the Poem Homes Flyer below.
